Marvel at art from five different millennia
About
The Kunsthistorisches Museum (Musuem of Art History) in Vienna was built by Emperor Franz Joseph for the magnificent imperial collection and is one of the most important museums in the world. Artifacts spanning five millennia can be admired here - from ancient Egypt through antiquity to the late 18th century, there is a lot to discover! In the Kunstkammer Wien, goldsmith works such as the famous Saliera by Benvenuto Cellini, sculptural masterpieces, filigree works in ivory, valuable timepieces and complex automata by the best and most famous artists of the time offer an incomparable insight into art history. The architecturally magnificent building of the museum itself will delight every art lover: the world-famous artist Gustav Klimt worked on the imposing staircase with a series of paintings.
