The best time to visit Vienna largely depends on your preferences and what you want to experience during your trip. Every season have their particularities.
We personally recommend visiting Vienna in August or December.
In August the weather is great and the city is bustling with outdoor events, open-air concerts and cinemas and lively festivals like the Film Festival at Rathausplatz. It's an excellent time to explore Vienna's historic landmarks, go hiking, dine at outdoor cafes, go swimming and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere in the city's parks and squares.
On the other hand Winter in Vienna is really magical, with Christmas markets, festive decorations and it's a cozy atmosphere. Vienna turns into a winter wonderland when it's snowing and also offers a lot of activities like ice-skating rinks and opportunities for skiing and snowboarding in the nearby mountains.
But Vienna is always worth a visit, no matter what season!
